2015 - Rembrandt Alumni Band - Rod Shedenhelm, Director
The Rembrandt Alumni Band presented a one-hour concert before the annual Rembrandt Alumni Association Reunion on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rembrandt. This is the only known high school alumni band in the state of Iowa. They are joined by several area band directors. Band members are, front: Eloise Mosbo Obman ’60, Rembrandt; Rod Shedenhelm, Band Director, Sioux Rapids; Helene Ducas Viall ’63, Des Moines; Cordy Peterson ’59, Reinbeck; Paul Mosbo ’58, Cortland, New York; Don McKibben ’60, full-time RV-er; Sharon Breckenfelder Stanberry ’58, Orlean, Virginia; and Rolf Mosbo ’67, Spencer. Back: Lavila Nelson, Sanborn; Megan Benz, Newell; Nikole Nuttall, Newell; Keith Moe, Albert City; Sandy Halverson, Sioux Rapids (partially hidden); Trish Moe, Albert City; Jacob Pedersen, Alta; and Tom Rutt, Spencer. This was the band’s 14th yearly concert since the 2001 Centennial. In addition to performing Sousa marches, including “Stars and Stripes Forever,” big band songs, “Marches of the Armed Forces,” and a jazz band piece, a flute trio performed a piece from contests in the 1960s. Sharon and Paul sang a duet from 1965 (for the 50th reunion class), and the band sang “Chapel of Love” (1964) and “Sentimental Journey.”
A special Thank You goes to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for providing a location for these Alumni Band concerts and for the annual Alumni Dinner. Thanks, also, to the band participants, pictured below during their practice session. . |
